Are you looking for something different to watch this February? Did you know that Hallmark is celebrating Loveuary? But what is Loveuary? And what are we watching as part of this celebration of love?

According to the press email we received on behalf of Hallmark, it seems that in the month of love they are honoring the iconic author "Jane Austen with Loveuary with Jane Austen, a month of original movie premieres inspired by the author’s work." And for the last Saturday of the month, that means a retelling of the classic novel, Sense and Sensibility.

Honestly, if you love Austen's work then you probably already watch anything and everything that is made inspired by her stuff. And this is no different. However, we love the fact that the Hallmark twist on Sense and Sensibility is all about bringing diversity to the screen, while also honoring the time period itself with an actual historian working as a historical consultant on the film. Even the costuming was specially crafted for this film, making it even more special as original costumes add something unique to any production.

Celebrate the end of Loveuary with Jane Austen's iconic Sense and Sensibility

This new take on the classic Sense and Sensibility stars Bethany Antonia (of House of the Dragon), Akil Largie (from The Sandman), Deborah Ayorinde (from Them), and Dan Jeannotte (of The Royal Nanny). It is a cast that may not be familiar to everyone, but once you tune in, you may just find yourself finding new actors and actresses to follow!

If you are unfamiliar with this particular Jane Austen classic, the description from Hallmark reads as follows:

"Following the loss of their family patriarch, the Dashwood women’s financial circumstances drastically change and they are forced to leave their home for a modest cottage in Devonshire. Soon, practical eldest daughter Elinor (Ayorinde) falls for the equally pragmatic gentleman Edward Ferrars (Jeannotte). Her passionate sister Marianne (Antonia) meanwhile spurns the advances of their steadfast new neighbor Colonel Brandon (Largie) for the much more exciting John Willoughby (Victor Hugo, Riches). When Elinor and Marianne’s romantic prospects do not turn out as hoped, each sister learns to embrace the other’s approach to matters of the heart. "

Honestly, this is such a great novel and it translates so well into both film and TV. And we can't wait to watch this retelling for ourselves, both for the story and the costumes. Because there is just something so special about the Regency era and the clothing that these characters wore. The fact that they made these costumes for this production just means that we have even more to look forward to!

We love that Hallmark decided to celebrate Jane Austen throughout the month of February and we can't wait to see what they have in store for us throughout the rest of 2024!
