Duchess Meghan reveals how her approach to fashion changed as a royal

While it seemed like Meghan Markle never really had a bad fashion day before she met Prince Harry, one the two became a couple and married, it is clear that her style shifted once she became part of the royal family. And according to a new interview with Time Magazine, it seems that the Duchess of Sussex has revealed the actual moment when her approach to fashion changed.

If you have been following Duchess Meghan's journey from working royal to post senior royal, then you likely already know that her fashion is often dissected and broken down for fans. We find out who the designers are, what the name of the piece is, how much it cost, and so much more. That means that when she puts together an outfit, she is promoting that designer's work.

And according to People Magazine, as part of her recent interview, the duchess revealed the moment during her time as a working royal that shifted the way she looks as her fashion choices.

The shift in how she approaches fashion came about after her very first royal engagement in December 2017. At the time, the Duchess of Sussex was spotted carrying a Strathberry bag following the announcement of her engagement to Prince Harry. Within minutes of the bag being spotted and identified, it apparently sold out online.

When the duchess learned about the impact that her fashion choice had on the Scottish brand that designed the bag, she knew that she needed to be more mindful when it came to the fashion choices she made.

"Times where I know there is a global spotlight, and attention will be given to each detail of what I may or may not be wearing, then I support designers that I have really great friendships with, and smaller, up-and-coming brands that haven’t gotten the attention that they should be getting. That’s one of the most powerful things that I’m able to do, and that’s simply wearing, like, an earring."

Since then, not only has the duchess been more mindful of her fashion choices, but it has also led to her investing in smaller brands that she supports as well. And we love that for those brands and their futures.

Considering the choices that the duchess continues to make with her fashion, it makes sense that she is more intentional with the designers she wears and the pieces that she showcases when traveling with her husband.
