Did Duchess Meghan channel Princess Diana with recent lunch date look?
On July 21, Duchess Meghan was spotted out and about in Montecito, where she was seen leaving a lunch spot with actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley. Of course, there was a lot of chatter around the duchess, not only for what she wore, but of course when she went to lunch (it was Prince George's birthday) and who she went to lunch with.
However, it is definitely the discussions of what the duchess wore that caught our attention. That is because there have been some talks about the similarity between what Duchess Meghan wore to lunch and the dressed down style of Princess Diana on a trip to Bosnia.
In August of 1997, Princess Diana was photographed wearing a white button down shirt and a pair of light denim jeans with a brown belt. It was a much more relaxed style from the princess and it was one that definitely had people talking. Of course, a lot of why people were talking about Princess Diana's trip to Bosnia had a lot more to do with her raising awareness about the issue of landmines and the fact that she chose to walk through a field that had active landmines in it.
Looking at the outfit choice of Duchess Meghan during her recent lunch outing, it is clear to see that the two royal women had/have a similar sense of style when it comes to more dressed down looks. And considering the fact that the Duchess of Sussex carried a handbag that was actually named after the late princess, according to Vanity Fair, and the Cartier watch that once belonged to her late mother-in-law, it makes sense that the comparisons would happen.
Honestly, we can absolutely see why people are saying that the duchess channeled Princess Diana. But at the same time, this is a very classic look and it is one that thousands of women wear all the time. A classic white shirt with a pair of jeans is basic fashion 101. And for a low-key Sunday lunch, going for a more casual but classic look makes perfect sense.
Even if the duchess was channeling Princess Diana, it makes sense to us, as the late princess was a fashion icon in her own right. And we don't blame anyone who wants to take inspiration from her and the fashion choices she made.
What do you think of the idea that the Duchess of Sussex was channeling Princess Diana? Do you think that there is something to be said for the idea of Duchess Meghan taking fashion inspiration from her late mother-in-law?
