Benedict Cumberbatch hints at return as Doctor Strange

It sounds like Benedict Cumberbatch might be returning as Doctor Strange in the MCU. And we are here for that type of news.

According to Deadline, while speaking as a guest at the JW3 Speaker Series, the actor stated that "There are some Marvel capers in the making next year." For some, that might seem like a throwaway comment, but this is the MCU we are talking about and we are listening for every clue out there.

Does this mean that there will be another standalone Doctor Strange movie? Or perhaps he is hinting at appearances in other MCU movies, such as one of the upcoming Avengers films that are planned.

Benedict Cumberbatch gives us hope for more Doctor Strange in the MCU

Obviously there was not much to learn from this quote, beyond the fact that he will likely be working on more Marvel projects in the next year or so. But that is enough to have us not only speculating about what is to come, but also excited for it.

Plus, we have to point out that at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there was a post-credit scene that hinted at more to come for the hero, which further solidifies the idea that when the actor made this statement, he really was talking about his return to the MCU in a future movie project.

Since his introduction as Dr. Stephen Strange in the 2016 Doctor Strange movie, Benedict Cumberbatch has given us a flawed hero that we almost love to hate. There have been plenty of frustrating moment with the character, as well as ones where we realized that we really do appreciate what he brings to the table as part of the MCU. And with at least six appearances as the superhero, we can't wait to see what else the actor has in store for us.
