Following the exit of Great British Bake Off host Matt Lucas, it was announced that Alison Hammond would be stepping in and joining Noel Fielding as the new co-host for the series. It was exciting news and one we can't wait to see in action on our TV screens.

However, we already know that filming has commenced for the newest season of the Great British Bake Off, and that means we will get to see Hammond taking up the cohosting mantle soon enough. Ahead of her official debut on our screens, the cohost opened up a bit about what it is like to be in the tent and her struggles around all those baked goods.

According to People Magazine, Alison Hammond explained that it was a struggle for her to be around all of the amazing confections being baked in the tent. And she even said that she gained weight from getting the chance to try all the goodies.

So what exactly did Hammond have to say about being in the tent and the struggles of all the baked treats?

"I probably put on half a stone. I've been working so much, I haven't been training. I was face down in the cake every single bake. I thought the appeal would've worn off, but I was tempted all the time."

We really can't blame Alison Hammond for finding it a struggle to resist all of those sweet treats (and even the not so sweet ones). Considering how often these desserts leave us wanting to hit up a bakery when we are watching along, we can only imagine what it must be like to actually be in the tent and smelling all of those goodies. At the same time, she is actually there with the ability to taste the cakes, breads, and pastries, so that is a challenge all on its own.

I definitely don't think I would have the self control to say no to fresh baked breads and cakes, so we totally get the struggle that Hammond faced on set.

We can't wait to see how Alison Hammond works alongside Noel Fielding, Prue Leith, and Paul Hollywood in the Bake Off tent. And of course, we are also excited to meet all the new bakers and see their creations come to life.
