It was technically the Quarterfinals of Next Level Chef Season 4. With just six chefs left in the kitchen, the mentors decided to throw a bone-in challenge at the remaining cheftestants. And for some of the chefs, this was a surprising home run, while others struggled to get their meat cooked properly.
For some of the chefs, it was the fact that they actually cut the meat that caused them to not do well. Then again, we also had one chef whose meat was served with three different cooks on it. However, we also had two massive successes and they both came out of the bottom kitchen. While the basement kitchen might have the worst tools and appliances, it was still able to make the best bone-in dishes thanks to Brandon Rogers (team Richard Blais) and Bobby Hicks (team Nyesha Arrington). This left Megan Keno from team Blais and Ryan Scanlon from team Gordon Ramsay in the bottom two.
Megan and Ryan went head-to-head in another bone-in style battle, but this time it was a whole fish that they had to cook. And while both chefs went hard and did an amazing job, sadly it was Gordon Ramsay who once again lost a chef.

Sadly, Ryan was eliminated just before he could make it to the semi-finals. And while we were sad to see him go, it wasn't his elimination that had us talking. Instead, it was the fact that before he could leave the Next Level Chef kitchen, Chef Ramsay let Ryan know that he wasn't done with him. While Ryan may no longer be in the competition, Gordon Ramsay is not going to let this talented chef get lost in the crowd.
The chef told Ryan that he has restaurants in Boston and he plans to get him hooked up with his team there. He wants to find a way to get him cooking for him and it sounds like Ryan will still be getting a mentorship of his own, even if he didn't end up winning the grand prize. Maybe it is me, but I think a job offer might be even better of a prize in this case.
It was an emotional moment, because while we were sad to see Ryan being eliminated, we also love that Gordon Ramsay is going to work with him in the future. This was a reminder that when Chef Ramsay sees talent, he tries to nurture it and he helps where he can.
Sadly, with Ryan out of the competition, this means that Team Ramsay only has one chef left. And that could spell trouble for the chef's possible three-peat.
