New information about the Royal Foundation's new leadership structure has been released.

According to GB News, Simon Patterson, a leader in the global technology investment industry, has become the new director of the Royal Foundation. Patterson will succeed Lord Hague of Richmond, who stepped down from his directorship position after being elected as the Chancellor of Oxford University.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Foundation, Amanda Berry, stated that Patterson's appointment will bring a wealth of experience from "the very highest levels of business" to the organization.

GB News states that the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales "aims to tackle society's biggest issues." The organization's official website claims that it uses cutting edge research and long-term partnerships to make measurable impacts in the communities it touches.

As of now, the Royal Foundation's primary areas of focus are: conservation, early childhood, emergency responders, homelessness, and mental health.

Simon Patterson is not new to the Royal Foundation, as GB News reports that he's been serving as the charity's vice-chairman for four years.

While serving on the Royal Foundation's board, Patterson also maintained an impressive business career that included stints as a board member at Dell and a trustee of the Natural History Museum. These posts were held in addition to his role at Silver Lake, a technology investment company.

Patterson's election will give the Prince of Wales a key resource as he continues to promote conservation and environmental sustainability around the world. Last year, Tea and Banter covered Prince William's contributions to the 2024 Earthshot Prize Awards in South Africa. The Earthshot Prize rewards innovators who create new solutions to save the planet. Like the Royal Foundation, William uses the Earthshot Prize to identify new partnerships and motivate individuals and organizations to use their resources for the greater good.

It would be ideal for Simon Patterson to use his new authority and executive acumen to craft impactful relationships with sustainable technologists who want to improve the earth's long-term health in their own way. While the Royal Foundation has a myriad of other issues to focus on, it appears Patterson may have a head start in the conservation category.

GB News' report on Patterson's election did not provide information on what the executive plans to do in his new role. We will provide updates whenever the new director's plans become clear.
