Meghan Markle dances with actress Kerry Washington at star-filled gala

Last week, Meghan Markle attended a star-studded event hosted by The Paley Center for Media. The gala was thrown in honor of Tyler Perry, a prolific playwright, author, and director who has close ties to Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry.

In a video published by Hello! Magazine, Meghan can be seen wearing a stunning black gown and happily dancing with fellow actress Kerry Washington as the two waited during a drive encouraging attendees to donate money to worthwhile causes.

Along with Washington, Meghan was seen sitting with Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey, another ultra famous media mogul. The group ate high quality appetizers, entrees, and desserts while celebrating Perry's accomplishments and listening to the legendary artist share his life story.

Perry and Meghan have developed a strong relationship with one another

At one point, Tyler Perry was a critical source of aid for Meghan and Harry. The couple suffered from backlash and harassment after their marriage and moved to the United States to escape the problems they endured in the United Kingdom.

Hello! writes that Tyler Perry was the one to reach out to Meghan first despite rumors saying Oprah Winfrey connected the two parties together. According to Perry himself, he wrote a note through his publicist that told Meghan "If you need anything, I'm here."

Eventually, Meghan accepted Perry's offer and called him to vent about what she and her husband were going through. Once he heard everything, Perry leapt into action and offered his $18 million Los Angeles residence for the Duke and Duchess to live in.

The couple lived in Perry's house while they regrouped and figured out how they would live life moving forward. Unfortunately, the couple had to determine how they would stay safe once their taxpayer-funded protection was rescinded. Once again, Perry came to the rescue and made sure his own security was present at Meghan and Harry's new home whenever necessary.

Perry's kindness to the couple was not ignored. When Meghan and Harry had their second child, Lilibet, they asked Perry to be her godfather. Perry accepted and, at that point, became a member of the Duke and Duchess' family forever.

From the outside looking in, it was nice to see Meghan mingling with her peers in the media and entertainment industry. Along with her and Harry's current Netflix deal, Markle portrayed Rachel Zane on the hit TV show Suits for seven seasons.
