Congratulations are in order for Wide Receiver Louis Rees-Zammit, a Welsh athlete who just signed an active roster contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Rees-Zammit's signing was officially announced by the Jacksonville Jaguars' official website for its UK audience.

Rees-Zammit has actually been with the Jaguars' organization since 2024, as he signed with the team's practice squad last August. Since joining Jacksonville, the wide receiver has trained with the organization to develop his skills and traveled to London to support his teammates as they played the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots.

Louis' professional football career began after trying out for the National Football League's (NFL) International Player Pathway. According to the Jaguars' official website, the athlete left a successful career in rugby to chase his NFL dream and complete his initial training.

At first, Rees-Zammit had a chance to build his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. However, his brief tenure with the franchise ended before he became a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Louis' new agreement with the Jaguars would let him accrue his second full season in the NFL if he makes the team's final roster next season.

"I’m excited to extend my stay in Jacksonville by signing for another year,” Louis said in a quote on the Jaguars' UK website. “While I know it was a tough season on the field for the team, I think I made some great progress with my own game, and I’m looking forward to continuing the hard work and advancing my skills even more."

As a team, the Jacksonville Jaguars missed the NFL Playoffs and had the fifth-worst finish in the league according to their NFL Draft position. While this was a disappointment for Jaguars fans in Jacksonville and the UK, the team's poor performance provides opportunities for players like Rees-Zammit to make a name for themselves.

Off-the-field, Louis Rees-Zammit has not forgotten to give back to the next generation of British-born American Football players while his career develops.

Last October, Rees-Zammit spent time teaching some youth athletes how to play flag football at an NFL Foundation UK event. The occasion gave Louis a chance to introduce Prince William to the sport as well and pass on a few pointers.

The coaching clearly worked, as the Prince of Wales was throwing dimes all over the field until he had to break away for his next activity.
