King Charles and Queen Camilla kick off Australian tour with church visit
It may be the second day of King Charles and Queen Camilla's visit to Australia and Samoa, but it is actually the first official day of work on this trip. This is because the King and Queen took a day of rest before officially beginning their working trip. And for their first official stop on the royal tour, the King and Queen attended a morning church service.
Greeted by hundreds of well wishers, King Charles and Queen Camilla attended Sunday service at the St Thomas’s Anglican Church in Sydney, according to Hello Magazine. And it was clear that there were plenty of excited royal fans waiting for a chance to see the King and Queen.
Considering the negative press leading up to the royal couple's first official visit to Australia and Samoa as the reigning monarchs, it makes sense that we would be paying attention to the crowds to see their reaction to King Charles and his wife. And based on all of the video clips and images that have been posted, it looks like there were a lot of royal fans waiting to greet the couple.
King Charles and Queen Camilla attended church service as their first stop on their 2024 Australian tour
Before heading into the church, the royal couple took the time to greet the crowds that came out to see them, with King Charles apparently stopping to chat with some school children who were part of the crowd. According to one of the young girls, King Charles stopped to ask them some questions related to church, specifically, "He asked us if we knew what the bible was and if we studied it."
Some of the school children gifted the queen with a bouquet of flowers, while another child said that they gifted the king with a drawing they made of a kangaroo.
A Melbourne man asked King Charles if he was planning to do any swimming or surfing while he was in the area, which lead to the king responding, "if I was a younger man."
It's nice to see the King and Queen kicking off their royal tour in Australia in such a positive manner. And of course, seeing them attend a church service seems very fitting for the couple, who are often spotted heading to Sunday service when in the UK.
