Another day, another controversy for controversial author J.K. Rowling. The writer, who has deep-seated views on the transgender community, has continued to take swipes at the Harry Potter cast. Her newest target is David Tennant, who appeared in the 2005 adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where he played the minor, yet important role of Barty Crouch Jr.

Tennant, who is a strong supporter of the LGBT community found himself, as per The Independent, embroiled in a tit-for-tat with Kemi Badenoch, earlier in the year. He had accepted the British Ally Award at the British LGBT Award where he remarked that he desired for the former women and equities minister to "shut up."

Now, J.K. Rowling herself has gone after him with fans turning on her in a spectacular fashion.

Rowling posted to X upon Kemi Badenoch winning the Tory leadership vote on November 2nd. She wrote:

"My thoughts and prayers are with David Tennant at this very difficult time."

This lame excuse of a joke was unprovoked. Tennant had said nothing about this, and yet, Rowling decides to make a dig at him for his relationship with the politician. Also, the Doctor Who star already had a profile before he joined the Potter franchise.

This is not the first time Rowling has taken digs at the Harry Potter cast. As per The Hollywood Reporter back in April 2024, she refuses to "forgive" Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson for their pro-trans stance saying that the actors, who starred as Harry Potter and Hermione Granger respectfully from 2001 to 2011, can "shove their apologies."

Going after David Tennant was the wrong move for Rowling. He is not one to just let it go. He has supported the LGBT community for years and is steadfast in his beliefs.

It is believed the reason for the failure of the Fantastic Beasts film franchise might have to do with Rowling's beliefs. The reception for the films has been mixed and due to the lack of viewership in recent years, the series has since been allegedly cancelled. This story has been around for a while, especially since the dramas with Johnny Depp and Ezra Miller went into overdrive.

Many people saw the favouritism of Amber Heard over Johnny Depp by Warner Brothers as an insult and decided to boycott any film produced by the company, especially after the former Grindelwald actor was vindicated.
