This week’s episode of Next Level Chef tried something new that was truly innovative. For the first time ever, our mentors cooked in the next level kitchen. This means that they got to experience the platform for themselves, while also cooking on whatever level of kitchen their team was in.

For Chef Gordon Ramsay, that meant the top kitchen, for Nyesha Arrington, that meant the mid-level kitchen and for poor Richard Blais that meant the basement. It was definitely a bit of a learning curve for some and for others it seemed like another day in the office. But what really stood out was the fact that the teams had to make five course meals in 30 minutes.

This meant that this was a truly group experience as the chefs had to make a cohesive menu, even as each chef had to make at least one dish. And our mentors had to make the desserts. All of this as part of an effort to prove that they are truly a team.

It was a true team challenge on Next Level Chef

By the end of the challenge, it was clear that these mentors have even more respect for their chefs after having to deal with the platform and snagging ingredients on the go.

The most interesting aspect of this episode was the fact that once again, Gordon Ramsay‘s team came out on top. And considering his team is down to only three chefs, and they’re all the young guns, it’s clear that these chefs know how to cook. They are winning at every turn and it seems like perhaps we could see a three-peat out of chef Ramsay.

Honestly, I agree with the decision that was made for Gordon Ramsay’s team to win. It really felt like they had the least amount of mistakes in their menu. And it was a highly cohesive menu overall. In fact, I think they only had one mess up, and it was simply the cook on the steak being a little bit over.

This has been a very interesting season of Next Level Chef. And we can’t wait to see how things keep going with these teams. Does Chef Ramsey have what it takes to win once again. Or could we see a surprise upset courtesy of Richard or Nyesha?
