Highly anticipated British movies dropping in 2025

The list of the most buzzed-about British movies set to release in 2025 is here!

Netflix UK has made announcements for the upcoming year 2025. With the new year, viewers can’t wait for new movies and shows that are on the hot streak of Netflix.

The streaming platform knows how to please its viewers from all over the world, no matter what region they belong to.  

Here is the list of some of the shining titles that you might be waiting for as soon as the new year hits. Keep them in your “remind me” list so that you don’t miss the good stuff. 

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man 

Netflix has confirmed its global distribution of one of the best BBC shows, which is now in the making as a film. It started off filming in September 2024 and is up for release in 2025. 

The film is directed by Tom Harper (known for Wild Rose and The Aeronauts) and written by Steven Knight (known for Closed Circuit and Dirty Pretty Things). 

The film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man would have Cillian Murphy in the role of Tommy Shelby. He would be seen alongside Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth, Jay Lycurgo and Stephen Graham. 

The Woman In Cabin 10

Keira Knightly has already given a flashing performance in Black Doves season 1 recently and is now signed for another awaited British film based on the novel The Woman in Cabin 10.

It is based on the novel of the same name, authored by Ruth Ware. The film is directed by Simon Stone who presented The Daughter and The Dig whereas the co-writers of the script include Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse (known for Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins). 

Keira Knightly will be seen alongside Guy Pearce, Hannah Waddingham, Art Malik, David Morrissey, David Ajala and many more.

The Ballad of a Small Player

Colin Farrell is ready to set the screen on fire with his upcoming psychological drama film after giving a commendable performance in The Penguin. Farrell will be seen alongside Tilda Swinton.

The movie is again based on the novel of the same name, authored by Lawrence Osborne in 2014. The film is actually located in Macau and shows a gambler who wants to live a low life in the same place. The rest of the story follows as he meets a relative spirit. 

The film is directed by Edward Berger (known for All Quiet on the Western Front and Your Honour), and written by Rowan Joffe (known for 28 Weeks Later and The American). 

The Thursday Murder Club

Another best-selling novel is about to get a film adaptation on Netflix. None other than Richard Osman’s novel by the exact name, The Thursday Murder Club is set to release in 2025.  

Pierce Brosnan, who previously played a legendary role as James Bond, will be seen in the movie alongside Jonathan Pryce, Daniel Mays, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, David Tennant, Paul, Freeman and many others. 

The film is produced by none other than Steven Spielberg and Jennifer Todd. The story revolves around friends who love to solve crimes as their hobby. However, the thrill starts when an actual murder case lands at their door. 

28 Years Later 

After a grandiloquent trailer release of the third instalment in the well-known zombie-verse, 28 Years Later is set to give a breakthrough in 2025. 

The trailer is already making waves all over the internet with its uncanny poem heard behind the visuals. The group of survivors living on a small island are connected with the mainland where the rage virus would be seen wreaking havoc after three decades. 

The film is directed and produced by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland. Cillian Murphy, the star of the movie, is also the executive producer of the horror flick. The rest of the cast includes Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Alfie Williams, Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell.

Steve

Good news for fans of Cillian Murphy, get excited for another of his movies coming in 2025 called Steve. The film is based on the novel Shy by Max Porter.

The story centres on a troubled teenage boy, played by Jay Lycurgo, and Cillian Murphy plays the headteacher who has mental health issues himself.  

It is revealed that the film is not a direct adaptation of the novel but a re-imagination. It would be shot from the viewpoint of the headteacher and probe into 24 hours of his life while struggling with his own self. 

The film will be directed by Tim Mielants and written by Max Porter, who is the screenplay writer as well.
