It was the first dinner service in Hell’s Kitchen with the black jacket team. And while we expected our chefs to knock it out of the park, unfortunately that’s not what happened.

While the episode started strong with the black jacket chefs, teaching comedians how to make a ravioli dish, that they were shown how to make by chef Gordon Ramsay, things fell apart when it came to dinner service.

Unfortunately for Brandon, he was unable to get it together. He couldn’t seem to communicate properly, he wasn’t responding to chef Ramsay or the team, and he struggled with the proteins. He kept serving things that were either overcooked or undercooked, and it required Hannah getting on the station with him to complete the service.

Yes, the final five was able to complete dinner service, but it was such a disaster that it didn’t seem like a success at all. It was very unsurprising when Gordon Ramsay decided to just send Brandon home without any real discussion.

The first black jacket dinner service in Hell’s Kitchen did not go well

Basically, he talked to each of the chefs about their service, and then reminded Brandon that he had had some amazing highs in Hell’s Kitchen, but this time around he was unable to get it together. Chef Ramsay even said to Brandon after he eliminated him that he was just as surprised as anyone else.

It is clear that Gordon Ramsay is not playing around this season, and he has no problem telling people that he thought they would get farther than they have. It was sad to see Brandon go, but we were not surprised after that dinner service.

The black jacket chefs need to get it together. There is no way that they should be faltering this badly at this point in the competition. At the very least, they should be finishing dinner service without chef Ramsay, calling them up to him at the pass in order to discuss issues with their dishes.

It should be interesting to see what happens with the top four next week. And hopefully Gordon Ramsay didn’t make the wrong choices in terms of who his top four are.
