Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen returned to Fox after the holiday hiatus with an episode that saw our chefs having to do a charity dinner service. And since we are down to our top eight, obviously, we expected the very best from the chefs.
The problem is that we did not get our very best in this episode of Hell’s Kitchen. Prior to the dinner service, there was the reward challenge, which the blue team won. This left the red team back at Hell’s Kitchen, having to make cupcakes to go for all of the guests. And at least one chef was not in the mood to make those cupcakes. Their attitude was definitely very poor and wasn’t exactly something we wanted to see from a head chef. And the fact that this chef walked out of the kitchen instead of finishing their task was shocking. Especially since we didn’t see anything come of that.
Maybe it was us, but this bad attitude felt like a precursor of what we would see in the dinner service. Honestly, there were a lot of issues with this charity dinner service. There were dishes that just had to be remade on both sides of the kitchen. And people didn’t seem to know how to run the pass or communicate with each other.
Another issue was the fact that even though the red team and the blue team were cooking on opposite sides, they were supposed to come together and get all of their dishes out at the same time. However, that didn’t seem to happen. There were definitely courses that did not come together to go out in a timely manner. It was rather disappointing. And there is no denying that Gordon Ramsay was not happy, even though both charities were served and left happy.
Overall, this episode didn’t have as many issues as some of the previous ones during dinner service. But there were definitely flaws in how people ran their service, and their dishes. At this point, we expect better from all of these chefs, and I’m sure that Chef Ramsay feels the same way.
Even Gordon Ramsay felt that there was way too much drama in the kitchen. And we felt that.
At the end of the day, we were both surprised by the people who got sent down as the weakest links, as much as we weren’t surprised. The thing that we weren’t surprised about was who got sent home. Because the first chef sent home questioned Gordon Ramsay about the cook of a dish. He pointed out to Anne-Marie that something was burnt, and she questioned him. And then he sent Joe home from the blue team because of his inability to be consistent over the course of the competition.
We were not surprised to see two of these chefs go home. However, the remaining six chefs need to get their act together because at this point, it doesn’t seem like any of them deserve to win.
