Guy Ritchie's MoblLand is a hit for Paramount Plus!

Deadline reports that MobLand's first episode on Paramount Plus drew 2.2 million viewers in its first week. The show's premiere is the biggest in the streaming platform's history and shows that its focus on "fewer, bigger, breakthrough series that can cut through the clutter" is a viable strategy for it moving forward.

Deadline reports that MobLand is the first project Guy Ritchie has delivered to Paramount Plus as an executive producer and director.

The series' phenomenal cast includes appearances from acclaimed British actors like Anson Boon, Paddy Considine, and Mandeep Dhillon. MobLand also features performances from Hollywood heavyweights like Pierce Brosnan and Tom Hardy.

Hardcore fans of Guy Ritchie's work as a director are not surprised by MobLand's success. The British director created some of the best crime and gangster films in the 21st century, with a catalog including 2000's Snatch, 2011's Sherlock Holmes, and 2019's The Gentlemen.

In a departure from his usual work, Ritchie contributed to Disney's 2019 live-action adaptation of Aladdin, a production that went on to gross over $1 billion.

MobLand's story is an intriguing work of crime fiction that follows Pierce Brosnan's character, Conrad Harrigan, as he leads an organized crime family jockeying for power within a global syndicate.

Tom Hardy, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor after his appearance in The Revenant, portrays a fixer who works for the Harrigan Crime Family in the series.

The series' record breaking premiere shows signs of a very bright future for the project. It's too early to tell how far it can go, but we can already conclude that Guy Ritchie has the support needed to make MobLand a long-term success.

Deadline reports that MobLand was produced by Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios.

The series was written and created by Ronan Bennett, who worked on Netflix's Top Boy, and partially written by Jez Butterworth, a contributor to Ford v Ferrari. MobLand is Butterworth's second victory on Paramount Plus' platform, as he wrote all 10 episodes of The Agency with John-Henry Butterworth.

So, it's clear that Guy Ritchie has some of the best names in the business helping him at every level of the show.

The first episode of the TV-MA crime drama can be streamed here. ScreenRant claims that Episode 2 will drop on April 6 at 3 AM eastern time.
