Episode two of Secret Service on Fox saw Gordon Ramsay head to Arizona to try and help a restaurant called Café Boa. And this looked like it would be an extreme challenge, because the owner of the restaurant wasn’t even treating his own wife with respect. However, it was interesting to watch the progression in this episode.
Café Boa really seemed like it needed a lot of help. It was dirty in the kitchen, the walk-in cooler wasn’t to temperature so food was going bad, and the owner didn’t seem to like anybody who worked in his restaurant. After all, he kept talking about replacing everyone with AI.
This really felt like an episode of TV where we would see Chef Ramsay walk away from the challenge. And interestingly enough, it took until the last 20 minutes of the episode to really see any change happen. But when the change occurred, it was quite lovely to see. The chef in the kitchen actually got the respect he deserved, and the title of executive chef. Not only that, but the owner’s wife got a chance to step away from a role that she wasn’t even comfortable doing.

Secret Service episode 2 gives us solid drama as the series really seems to kick into gear
One of my favorite parts of this episode was actually seeing how Gordon Ramsay stepped in to help the new executive chef as they re-launched Café Boa. As soon as he saw the chef falling behind on the orders, he walked in and put on an apron. He was there to help cook, but also offer up suggestions for how to keep things moving without angering the customers, while also not overwhelming the kitchen staff. It was a beautiful moment that really showcased how things had changed at the restaurant.
Two episodes in, and I have to say that Secret Service on Fox is definitely giving us a little something different from the usual Kitchen Nightmares episodes. Although I enjoy Kitchen Nightmares, I have to say that when they know owners and managers know that Chef Ramsay is coming into their restaurant, you can tell that they’ve done a few things to try and hide their bad behavior. But having an insider and kind of hiding what is really happening does change the way we get to see the reality of these restaurants.
I can see this series doing really well and getting more seasons. Here’s hoping that people are tuning in for this latest Gordon Ramsay series. And hopefully we get even more drama and restaurant rehabs.
