Does Gordon Ramsay have a soft spot for Egypt on Hell’s Kitchen?
Hell’s Kitchen is at the halfway point of season 23. And at this point, we have finally hit the episode where Gordon Ramsay doesn’t open the restaurant for dinner service, but rather has some of the chefs essentially cook for their spot in the competition.
However, this episode of Hell’s Kitchen started with a clue challenge. Two chefs went up to the front and had to give their teammate a one word clue to try and determine what ingredient they saw on a screen. From there, that ingredient would be added to a menu that they were building.
One chef who really seem to understand the assignment, and could figure out the ingredient based on one word clues was definitely Egypt. It was like he was locked and loaded, and ready to go. But that’s how he has been all season long. Even when he was missing his family and his child, it was clear that he really has a passion for cooking and he wants to be there.
The problem is that it does not seem as if the rest of his team wants him there. And after everyone cooked their dishes, his dish was the one that they decided not to serve to Gordon Ramsay.
Hell’s Kitchen sees Egypt’s dish left out of the tasting to Gordon Ramsay’s disdain
If you have been paying any attention this season, whenever they leave Egypt’s dish off of the tasting menu, his dish is the one that probably would’ve won the point. So it likely comes as no surprise that when Gordon Ramsay tasted his dish, he told the blue team they made a huge mistake.
Honestly, it almost feels like Chef Ramsay has a soft spot for Egypt, in part because the blue team doesn’t seem to have that same level of respect for their teammate. And when it came down to the challenge to move on, Egypt’s dish saved him. This meant that he didn’t have to cook for his spot in the competition.
Considering the episode where Gordon Ramsay and Egypt have that heart-to-heart moment about being fathers and the struggle to be away from their family for Hell’s Kitchen, it does make sense that there might be something there. That does not mean that we believe that Ramsey won’t pick the right chef to lead his restaurant, but it really does feel like he is giving Egypt that level of support that seems to be lacking in his own team and that doesn’t come as a surprise.
What do you think, fellow banterers? Do you think that chef Gordon Ramsay has a soft spot for Egypt? What do you think about the way the blue team continually seems to reject the dishes that Egypt puts up?
