David Tennant is best known as a stage and cinema performer and is widely recognised for his roles in Doctor Who (2005-2010 and 2013) as the tenth incarnation of the Doctor. Besides, Broadchurch (2013-2017) and Rivals (since 2024) are other prominent examples of his wonderful work.
His real-time electrifying performance for Macbeth will be released next month. He will be seen alongside Cush Jumbo (The Good Wife) in a modern spin on the classic play.
Max Webster directs the play. He is the award-winning theatre director behind The Importance of Being Earnest, a comedic satirical play first performed in 1895.
As per WhatsOnStage, the theatrical revival originally premiered at the Donmar Warehouse, which is also its recording place. The audience enjoyed the play with an intimate experience and wore headphones for said purpose. The audio effects with surround sound and an immersive experience in 5.1 cinema were mindblowing.

Initial reviews, cast and details
It later broke records at the Harold Pinter theatre in West End where the ticket sales reached a record of £2,150,000 in just one day. Some of the performances were house-full and outshone with the highest-grossing performances apart from five of the highest-grossing weeks in the theatre’s history.
The initial reviews of Macbeth are already excellent, coming from The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Stage, TimeOut and Theatre Weekly. The experience with headphones was something out of this world since the dialogues were whispered into the microphones to give a riveting and skin-crawling experience to the audience, and it worked!
On the premier day, there will be no headphones as it would be impossible to cater for a large audience with massive numbers of devices all at once. Hence, special care has been taken for audio mixes with a wider spectacle.
The rest of the cast includes Rob Alexander-Adams, Moyo-Akande, Annie Grace, Jasmin Hinds, Martyn Hidge, Brian James O’Sullivan, Casper Knopf, Gemma Laurie, Cal MacAninch, Rona Morison, Kathleen MacInnes, Alasdair Macrae, Jatinder Singh Randhawa, Theo Wake, Ross Watt, Noof Ousellam, Raffi Phillips, and Benny Young.
Macbeth will be released in cinemas on February 5, 2025. It will be screened in the UK, US, and Australian cinemas along with selected international territories.
