Cynthia Erivo was a vision in green, as she channeled her inner Elphaba to walk the red carpet at the 2025 Oscars. While her dress was such a dark, emerald green that it almost looked black, it allowed the actress to truly shine as the star that she is.
Although Erivo opted not to wear anything around her neck, she still went all out with the bling, as she rocked multiple rings, stunning earrings and nails that were truly wicked looking. However, we have to talk about her dress, as it perfectly fit into the Wicked theme that she and her costar, Ariana Grande, have been opting for whenever they are doing press or attending awards programs.
In the past, when talking about the press tour for Wicked, the actress has stated that she and her stylist wanted to make a statement and tell a story with every look. And there is no denying that since the very beginning of the Wicked press tour, she has been doing just that. But, it is her award season looks that have been stealing the show. However, this look at the Oscars is far and away one of our absolute favorites. It is a showstopper of a look.
The thing about this red carpet dress, is that it makes a statement. However, it also elevates Cynthia Erivo’s beauty without being overwhelming. She looks like a queen in this gorgeous green dress. And that makes sense when you realize that this piece is from designer Louis Vuitton.
Cynthia Erivo brought the green to the Oscars red carpet
According to Vogue Magazine, it seems that Erivo arrived "in a voluminous, pannier-hipped Louis Vuitton gown with a cut-out collar rising from an elaborate bow-shaped bustier in deep velvet green." It was a statement gown in every sense of the word.

Cynthia Erivo looked like an Emerald City Queen in this gorgeous velvet gown. And there is no denying that she was one of the best dressed of the night.
While she may have taken the Oscars stage in an entirely different gown, there is no denying that this velvet number is the one we will remember from this night. It was a perfect culmination of not only the Wicked story that she was trying to tell, but also the exclamation we were expecting to end awards season with.
Now we can't wait to see what happens when the second part of the musical begins its press tour, as we expect something truly magical from Cynthia Erivo once again. But for now, we will sit here and admire this stunning gown.
