On February 26, a new trailer for the upcoming series Douglas is Cancelled was released by BritBox. Starring both Karen Gillan and Hugh Bonneville, this series focuses on a journalist who finds himself in hot water after a tweet goes viral about a supposed joke that he made during a wedding.

That joke was apparently very sexist and leads to his life basically imploding. Not only is his job on the line, but so are his relationships. Did he even say what he’s been accused of? Considering that he doesn’t remember, it does make sense that perhaps the story has been exaggerated. However, his cohost, played by Gillan, also seems to be wrapped up in whatever happened.

Trailer for Douglas is Cancelled gives us a journalist facing the potential consequences of his actions (or in this case words)

In the trailer released by BritBox, we even have the moment where she seems to confront him and say, but it wasn’t a joke. Instead, she seems to say that this was a story about her. But what does that mean? Well, of course, we are going to have to tune into the series to find out exactly what happened, who did what and how a viral tweet can destroy a person’s life.

In a lot of ways, there is no denying that this is a very timely story. So many people are finding their lives shaken by social media. But at the same time, many of these people are also being called out for their own actions and what they have said. So is social media their downfall? Or did they cause those issues? That is exactly what this series looks to answer.

Douglas is Cancelled is set to premiere on BritBox on March 6, which means that people can tune into the drama/comedy series for themselves to see exactly how everything plays out. Was Douglas actually canceled because of his own bad behavior or did social media lead to him being a victim in his own right?
