Aaron Pierre is quite busy these days after his lauded performance in Mufasa: The Lion King. The British actor is making waves as he is getting ready for his next big project.

DC comics-based fictional character, The Green Lantern, is back with its new and eagerly-expected series “Lanterns”. Aaron Pierre will be seen as John Stewart, the fictional character known as the Earth’s Green Lantern.

After getting high praise for his voice acting in Mufasa, Pierre is getting prepped for another milestone, which would be a great change from Pride Lands to the Green Lantern Corps.

Pierre played the younger version of Mufasa, which is meant to be the prequel to Disney's live-action versions of one of the greatest animated stories of all time. Pierre brilliantly injected the role's highly demanded emotional weight with his voice acting, earning him recognition worldwide.

Pierre himself disclosed that working on Mufasa was a thrilling experience as the entire journey from being a cub to becoming a great leader of the massive land was invigorating in every way.

After wrapping up his works on Mufasa, he is now moving on to divert his focus to Lanterns. He will be working under the new heads of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Pierre will be seen alongside Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan. DC Studios confirmed that they wanted young and fresh faces for the main lead of the series as it should be someone strong alongside Chandler, the Emmy winner, to make it more impactful for the first-ever Black comic hero series.

Transition plans from Mufasa to John Stewart

Peirre’s preparations include training himself both physically and mentally. His physical training includes intense training as Stewart was an ex-marine and exhibited great measures of discipline and compassion.

His mental preparations inculcate gearing up to take on the weight that Stewart would be handling in the shoes of Green Lantern. Transforming himself from Mufasa’s psychological creeds and painting them over with Stewart’s beliefs is something that Pierre is working hard on.

He explained that it is a mixture of some of the things that he already knows and some that he is learning about. He is mildly OCD-prone, and for that reason, he wants to be “very, very meticulous” and “leave no stone unturned” while being at it.

He admitted that Stewart’s character requires great lengths of responsibility, for which Pierre has to cleanly handle the pressure. He knows that the character portrays “class” and “charisma” which puts a great obligation on his shoulders to display the character with the same strength and identity.

It would be now upon Pierre’s discretion how he manifests into the duality of a professionally trained former Marine official and the heroic complexities of the Green Lantern.

He was happy that DC called him up for John Stewart and is greatly content to be part of the team and Green Lantern Corp. The release date of the series is not revealed yet.
